Retained EU Law (Revocation and Reform) Bill
- End date
- 22 November 2022
- Issuer
- UK Parliament – House of Commons – Government Bill
Retained EU law is a category of domestic law created at the end of the transition period and consists of EU-derived legislation that was preserved in our domestic legal framework by the European Union (Withdrawal) Act 2018.
We submitted feedback in writing on occupational safety and health impacts to the House of Commons Public Bill Committee, which is going to consider this Bill.
There is potential for abolishing EU-derived laws on employment and health and safety regulations, such as:
- Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 – there would be no duty to have a safety system or risk assessments.
- many other safety regulations
- chemicals regulations such as CLP and REACH
- building regulations
- working time regulations (safe limits on working hours)
- agency workers regulations.
