IOSH is delighted to announce a significant training contract with Gulf Aluminium Rolling Mill (Garmco), which is based in the Kingdom of Bahrain. This represents another positive step that IOSH is taking to improve workers’ health and safety in the Arab Gulf States.
The package grants licences to Garmco to deliver IOSH’s Working Safely, Managing Safely and Fire Safety Awareness courses. In addition, IOSH has approved the company’s three tailored half-day courses: on CoSSH; on confined spaces; and on permit to work.
The overall objectives of the package are to:
- improve the company’s internal training function
- reduce training costs through more flexible delivery
- improve Bahraini nationals’ OSH awareness
- award international recognition for courses created in-house
- ensure external quality control for all Garmco’s internal training.

“We are empowering our employees ...
... to take ownership of their safety. Doing so, we contribute not only to their professional development but also to the long-term success and sustainability of the company.”
With the confirmation of the contract Mohamed Rafea, CEO of Garmco, said:
“At Garmco we are dedicated to continuously enhancing the safety of our human capital. Becoming an IOSH-approved training provider marks a significant milestone in our efforts to foster a proactive safety culture and support our employees’ professional growth.”
He commented that the partnership “enables us to provide international safety training that strengthens our team’s competence and knowledge. It ensures they are better equipped to implement advanced safety practices and comply with internationally recognised safety standards.”
Iain Mcintosh, Senior Business Development Manager at IOSH, said:
“We are thrilled to have teamed up with Garmco. It’s another demonstration of what we can offer through our IOSH for Business initiative. We look forward to helping the company to create an internal training function that will strengthen its critical safety initiatives and enhance the expertise of its staff.
“We eagerly anticipate celebrating the first group of learners when they receive their certificates.”
