Summary
The Building Safety Act and Fire Safety Act came into full force in 2023. This brought significant changes to safety management of residential buildings during design, construction and occupation.
This course, delivered by those involved in the new legislation, explains the changes. This includes competence requirements, responsibilities and concepts such as the ‘golden thread’ of recorded information throughout a building’s life.

- Undertake a building risk assessment based on hazard identification (HAZID) and ‘bow tie’ processes.
- Identify the requirements for information from both Acts, and the prescribed information and prescribed format of all documentation associated with the Acts (for example, ‘golden thread’).

The legislation generally relates to England and Wales, but some elements affect Scotland.
