Meeting with colleagues to get a better understanding of a particular issue. Attending a webinar to fill a gap in your knowledge. Reading up on the latest developments in your profession. Shadowing colleagues to gain fresh insights and approaches.
What do all of these activities have in common?
Well, they all count as Continuing Professional Development – or CPD for short – of course.
So many ways
There are so many ways of doing your CPD, and you’re probably doing many of them without even realising. All of them contribute to developing yourself and enhancing your career prospects.
In fact, there are many benefits to CPD (on top of it being a requirement for certain grades of IOSH membership). These include:
- creating a structured career path
- building confidence and credibility
- developing and maintaining competence and knowledge
- safeguarding your professional status.
