Financial support and reasonable adjustments
Help for new and existing members
We can provide financial assistance towards membership fees (from 50 per cent off, up to a full discount, depending on circumstances) and assessment fees (50 per cent discount). And we are committed to making reasonable adjustments to support your enrolment on a professional development route. Separately, the IOSH Benevolent Fund exists to provide financial support to existing or former IOSH members in times of hardship.

Retired members
Members who have retired completely from working life can continue their membership at a concessionary rate. The options are as follows.
With CPD
If you want to keep your Technical, Certified, Chartered or Chartered Fellow status and use your post-nominals, you will need to maintain your CPD record online. This means ensuring it meets our standard of compliance and is updated throughout the year, with at least 30 hours and an up-to-date development plan. You will need to reapply for the concessionary rate on an annual basis if you choose this option.
Without CPD
If you decide not to maintain your CPD then you will NOT need to reapply for the concessionary rate the following year. You'll be regraded to Affiliate membership and won't be able to use post-nominals. Your renewal will automatically be reduced to the concessionary rate going forward.
Concessionary assessment fees
We can offer concessionary fees to members wanting to enrol on routes to professional development. This includes a 50 per cent discount on the following.
- Professional Development Assessment (PDA) route – submit the concessionary assessment fees application form.
- Experiential route – submit the concessionary assessment fees application form after you have been accepted onto your chosen route.
- Fellowship route – submit the concessionary assessment fees application form after you have been accepted onto your chosen route.
Your application must include supporting evidence. Our concessionary membership and assessment fees policy gives guidance on this.

Reasonable adjustments
We are committed to embedding equality, diversity and inclusion in all that we do. To ensure no member or potential member is at a disadvantage, we can make reasonable adjustments to support your application. These can include allowing extra time for membership assessments and providing access to alternative formats.
We consider all requests in accordance with the Equality Act 2010. By doing this, we endeavour to ensure equal access to membership assessments and the elimination of unlawful or unfair discrimination, whether direct or indirect.
Email our Professional Development and Standards Team, who can support you through the process.

IOSH Benevolent Fund
The fund may be able to help with financial support in times of crisis or hardship. Existing or former IOSH members who’ve had at least a year of continuous membership, their families and dependants may apply, as can ex-employees of IOSH. The amounts awarded are at the discretion of the fund’s trustees.
The fund cannot give support for IOSH’s membership fees, training courses, qualifications or PDA applications. For these, alternative concessionary support is available.
The fund relies on investment income and member donations, made through the Charities Aid Foundation. We are grateful for the generosity shown towards fellow professionals.
