Retired members
Members who have retired completely from working life can continue their membership at a concessionary rate. The options are as follows.
With CPD
If you want to keep your Technical, Certified, Chartered or Chartered Fellow status you will need to maintain your CPD record online. This means ensuring it meets our standard of compliance and is updated throughout the year, with at least six activities and an up-to-date development plan. You will need to reapply for the concessionary rate on an annual basis if you choose this option.
Without CPD
If you decide not to maintain your CPD then you will NOT need to reapply for the concessionary rate the following year. Your renewal will automatically be reduced to the concessionary rate going forward.
Concessionary assessment fees
We can offer concessionary fees to members wanting to enrol on a new professional development route. This includes a 50 per cent discount on the following routes.
- Fellowship route – for Chartered members to progress to Chartered Fellow.
- Professional Development Assessment (PDA) route – for Certified members to progress to Chartered membership.
- Experiential route – for Affiliate and Technical members to progress to Certified or Chartered membership.
How to apply
- Membership fees – if you are joining IOSH for the first time, please complete the application form below.
- PDA route – please complete the application form below instead of the form on the PDA page if you wish to join this route.
- Experiential and Fellowship routes – please complete the application form below after you have been accepted on your chosen route.
To renew an existing IOSH membership under a concessionary rate, you will need to return your renewal application.
Supporting evidence
You will need to include supporting evidence with your application. This varies depending on your circumstances. Please refer to the policy document below for full details.
If you are an existing or former IOSH member, we may be able to help with financial support. The fund is open to members with a minimum of one year of continuous membership, their family and dependants. Former employees of IOSH are also eligible. The amount of help offered is decided by the fund’s trustees at their absolute discretion.
The fund is reliant on donations and investment income and all support is gratefully received.
We are committed to embedding equality, diversity and inclusion in all that we do. To ensure no member or potential member is at a disadvantage, we can make reasonable adjustments to support your application. These can include allowing extra time for membership assessments and providing access to alternative formats.
We consider all requests in accordance with the Equality Act 2010, to ensure equal access to membership assessments and the elimination of unlawful or unfair discrimination, whether direct or indirect.
