The IOSH Student Member Bursary

The IOSH Student Member Bursary exists to support our Student Members while they complete their IOSH-accredited qualifications. IOSH was named a beneficiary of the will of the late Howard Phillips during 2011 and set up this fund in his memory. Since then, we have continued to contribute to the bursary fund to support our Student Members.

2024 applications are now open

IOSH’s Student Member Bursary is open for another round of applications. We encourage Student members from all walks of life and wherever they are in the world to apply by the closing date of Monday 16 December at 16:00 GMT.

You can request up to £250 from the Student Bursary by filling in the online application form on this page. As part of the application process, you must include an itemised list of how you will use the funding. If you’re successful, the bursary will be paid to you directly via BACS transfer.

If you have any questions about the bursary or need help, please email our student membership team.

You must be a current IOSH Student Member at the time of application. If you apply after your Student membership end date, your application will not be considered.

Decisions will be made by a three-person panel of IOSH staff.

We will share the outcome of the panel’s decision with you by email by Monday 13 January 2025. If successful, we will ask you to provide your bank details to enable us to make the payment.

    • The bursary is open to current IOSH Student members who are studying an IOSH-accredited qualification or the SHE Technician Apprenticeship.
    • The bursary will only be awarded if the applications are of sufficient merit and standard.
    • The administration of the award is undertaken by IOSH.
    • By submitting an application, the applicant will be deemed to have accepted and be bound by the terms and conditions of the award.
    • The entry must be original and be the work of the applicant.
    • The panel’s decision is final and we don't accept appeals.
    • The bursary may need to be repaid if the student does not complete their course, or if they withdraw from their course.

You could benefit from financial support up to £250 to help you with your studies and/or your career. Only IOSH Student members are eligible to apply. Not yet a member? Join now.
