The IOSH Level 6 Diploma consists of three units.

The aim of the unit is to enable you to demonstrate advanced understanding of OSH legal frameworks and management principles. This includes the application, development, appraisal, and implications of different approaches in a business.

  • Key components of OSH risk management
  • Approaches to OSH incident management
  • Integrating OSH risk into organisational risk processes

The aim of this unit is to enable you to critically appraise OSH performance within an organisation. You will learn how internal and external factors can influence OSH decision making and approach, while contributing to wider business strategy. You will develop recommendations for improving and implementing organisation-wide OSH practices and culture.

  • Implications of external factors and organisation change on an organisation’s approach to OSH
  • Contribution of OSH to sustainability
  • Organisation wide approach to OSH

The aim of this unit is to enable you to demonstrate understanding and application of leadership skills to influence, challenge and drive change within OSH in an organisation. You will critically review the effectiveness of your own capability and performance to fulfil the OSH leadership role. You will also identify areas for continuing professional development (CPD).

  • Reviewing own OSH leadership and competence

How you are assessed

You'll be assessed through three assignments that include a combination of reports and presentations. Tasks are based on your current workplace. This means you and your employer will benefit from your work on the Diploma straight away.

If you don't have a current workplace, it may be possible to base these tasks on a volunteer role or place of study, such as a college or university. Please talk to your study centre to find out more.
